US Veteran’s Administration adopts DYSIS
First Veteran’s Administration Facility adds DYSIS Digital Colposcope Service and Education Program
Edinburgh, Scotland – February 08, 2017 – DYSIS Medical, Ltd. announced today that the first Veteran’s Administration gynaecology clinics in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas have purchased DYSIS Advanced Cervical Imaging Systems and are also the first sites to adopt colposcopyskills.com – an online educational service that tests colposcopy skills against expert review of 50+ live case exams.
Colposcopy, which can be subjective and has remained unchanged for decades, is an exam performed after a woman has an abnormal Pap smear. The DYSIS digital colposcope with DYSISmap can enhance a doctor’s ability to diagnose and manage cervical neoplasia by detecting changes in a woman’s cervix and helping to guide biopsy selection and the best course of treatment to prevent cervical cancer. Clinical studies in Europe and the 9,000 subject IMPROVE-COLPO study have demonstrated that when the map is used with a standard colposcopy exam, detection of high grade disease is substantially increased.
“We adopted the DYSIS system because our veterans deserve the best possible care and we wanted to upgrade our electronic documentation – which in the past had not allowed us to capture images for better management of pre-cancerous areas,” stated Dr. Lynn Brooks, MD. “Our Nurse Practitioners also perform colposcopy exams. The online Colposcopyskills.com educational program helps us assess our nurse practitioners’ skills against colposcopy experts and the DYSIS PC Viewer allows us to review exams for quality assurance, which we could never do before.”
DYSIS Medical’s CEO, Alastair Atkinson commented, “To have the Veteran’s Administration adopt the DYSIS system and the colposcopyskills.com educational program, is just one more endorsement of the importance of this new cervical screening technology for education and quality assurance. The Veteran’s Administration is known to only adopt evidence-based medical devices with the potential to improve patient care, so we are very excited to have the first two VA clinics as customers.”
